I reckon the first to buy a Mk6, aka Mk5.5, will come from the ranks of those who have leased or company cars and who are obliged to change their cars. But will a Mk6 GTI be on their allowable list in this boring PC era?

Iv only had my MK5 4 4months and i can honestly say i wont trade in/swap/sell for some time yet!!
Be interesting to get a real driver review when they finally are released tho

I agree. Im waiting to see first before i replace my daily. One of the reasons is Xenons not until week 22. |

If the price and specs both autocar and autoexpress talk about then i will prob not buy  because I do think 23K for the spec levels they talk about in the magazine (and are now on the configurator at vw.co.uk) i read today is a bit much. As they said in the mags leather is now an option (so ~£1700) were as in the past couple of years it was standard on the mk5 and prob other things too (after looking at other mk5 v mk6 specs and now the config on vw.co.uk) that meens the 5door GTI in reality has had a ~£3500+ price hike over the mk5! Sorry VW but even what i would class as basic spec for me would come to near 26K! which is just silly i could have a S3 with similar spec for prob less after discount! Makes a secondhand near new mk5 GTI or edition30 or Pirelli look a bargin. Sorry VW you were gready before but now your taking the p1ss. At least some of the brokers are now listing it too and giving near 9% off. |

^^^ I agree Snoopy, in the current climate it's a massive price increase especially when most of the press on the Mk6 say it's a cheaper model to produce over the Mk5 |

seen a fair few mk6's on the roads now and they dont look special!!! they just look like a normal car, had to check twice with a black one i saw, thought it was a mk5 as it drove past me,
seen a silver one, candy white one, and a black one! they look like waterd down roccos
