SteveP and John_o have both written pretty accurate an great reviews of the days events.
I might as well just add my thoughts.
First off as a day out i really enjoyed it, VW could not be faulted on this, i was buzzing all evening.
My thoughts on the car now i have experienced it rather than just listening to other peoples opinion's are.
The looks will grow on me and others, its much better in the flesh and on the road. The handling and poise when tested was excellent very balanced and easy to drive.
The car is so much like the Mk 5 the differences are very subtle and the overall feel was like driving a Mk 5
Now this is where i need to get my point across about what i feel about the similarity.
It feels like a lazy attempt at a new Mk by Volkswagen, but they understand the market conditions, i dont.
And finally even if it is a lot like the Mk 5 then thats no bad thing as the Mk 5 golf GTI is one excellent car. anyone buying one of these will not be disappointed. thats for sure.
