There's already a healthy debate going on over in the mk5 part of the forum but here's the initial release info from a German magazine for those that don't venture in that part of the forum:

power bump from 155 to 175. Wonder how they do that.
Suspension looks nice and low, even lower than R? Maybe back still a bit high. An OEM drop for my 6 might be an option after all...

Scant information so far. All we know is what's in the press release above.
We'll have to wait for Worthersee when they will have the car on the VW stand. Hopefully then someone will get a sneak under the bonnet to see what motor is under there.
ETKA will have the details when more production info is released. Mainland Europe will get the first ones delivered so I'm sure the info will be over the net like a rash once the German tuners start getting their hands on them!

Very early days yet, and the car is not even in the news sections of any VW official websites that I've looked at yet.

The ETKA update from past experience should be there by now as its normally months in advance of release.

Having done a quick check of the specs from various brochures; the GTI EA888 engine produces around 170 g/km of CO2. So you'd expect a lightly tuned EA888 to produce slightly more than that but much less than the R.
Not so.
The ED35 is just under 190 g/km which is almost identical to its very close family relative: The Leon Cupra and Cupra R both put out 190 g/km. And we all know the Leon Cupra has the EA113 K04 unit.  Smiley

For UK members here; Volkswagen Driver magazine have announced that VW have confirmed they are bringing over an ED35 to show at GTI International for the Sunday only.
