^ Looks good in red ^

^ Rear end looks too high and the front too heavy from this angle ^

Linky : - Lots of pics - All red examples

Linky : - Lots of written info

Reading about it, I find that there are features which I welcome and others which are awful. But the proof of the pudding is in the eating and I'll be the first to drive the new arrival at my dealers.

Quote: "To let drivers choose the desired system behavior, besides the "Normal" program with a basic medium setting, DCC on the Golf GTI also offers the "Sport" and "Comfort" modes that are activated by a pushbutton above the shift gate. In "Sport" mode, the power steering is also tuned for greater dynamic responsiveness."

A friend of mine is currently driving a new Rocco as a test bed and we were chatting on the phone today and comparing notes about the DCC system. He told me that he had been driving in "Comfort" mode and found himself being challenged to a spirited drive by a Ford ST. He said he almost lost control and then realised he was in Comfort! He now drives permanently in "Sport" mode suspension and KW-V3's will be fitted very soon.

The DCC is a gimmick but I guess that some drivers will select the mode they prefer and stay in it permanently. Thing is, the "Sport" mode is hardly uncomfortable!!

OT but how does the car react when you change the shocks to aftermarket ones as i thought the sport/comfort/normal were also linked into throttle & steering controls/settings. What happens when it no longer gets the signals from the shocks due to aftermarket ones been fitted.
I don't like this idea either it makes replacing oem shocks expensive and as yourself know shocks don't last for ever and most are past there best at less than 50K. The amount of cars i have converted over the years (especially Audis and alfas) for foke that have had gimic oem suspension like self leveling etc or active dampers that after many years of use go faulty and it works out uneconomic to replace/fault find the oem system so you end up changing the lot for the ones from a lower spec model with standard type suspension.

Hi Geoff,

I don't know an accurate answer to your question myself but both my friend with the Rocco I mention and VWR (who have now extensively rebuilt a couple Rocco's) will know. So I'll see if I can get an answer.

Meanwhile, I think that you can disconnect the suspension's appropriate electronic controls.

Just been on the configurator at vw.co.uk and it seems ACC (adaptive chassis control) is an option at £705 makes the car look even more expensive. You know how i don't spec much well i managed near £26K for a 5door (allowing ~800 for xenons) thats just silly its far too close in spec to an S3 and the S3 may not be as nice to drive(up for debait at the moment as not driven a mk6) but its far too close Vw are getting FAR too gready.

If I was planning on buying a Mk6 I'd be very happy to learn that ACC is an option I could leave out. I'd much rather put that money towards a more focussed suspension system.

What's the betting that the next generation S3 will be somewhat more expensive than the Mk6 VW.

It prob will be but its not long since the Audi had a facelift and the new ones not due till 2011 were as this is sort of the golfs facelift and its new ones out 2012. The SEAT leon too has just had a facelift and the new FR is getting this new 210PS GTI engine/diff in that facelift.

Not seem a red GTI in the flesh yet but seen a few red TSI's and i think its one of only a few colours i personally think works on the mk6 golf.
