I am about to change my 225/40 R18 Bridgestones to the new Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric 2 tyres.
The Bridgestone fronts have 6.5mm and the rears 7.5 mm tread depths, so hardly used as the car has only done 3300 miles!
I am changing them because they are noisey on our broken road surfaces.

I am really worried that some rim damage might ensue due to improper equipment.
Is there specialist equipment at tyre fitters that would prevent this?
What should I be looking for wrt this?
Any recommended tyre fitters in the London area I should go to?

Help please!

Thanks.

Scary times Asker.  scared
Have you posted this same question in the mk5 section? If not I'd suggest you do as it carries far more traffic than this section and there are quite a few owners who will have had experience of not wanting to damage their polished alloys. Thankfully London covers a big area and there are bound to be tyre specialists that are alloy friendly.
Just don't take them to where Martin got his ruined!!

Done as you suggested.
The more advice and recommendations the better.
Did Martin go to Kwik Fit? I have a feeling he did. sick0020

Tell me about it, Snoops.
Finding that single brain cell amongst all those dead ones is proving a touch difficult. evilgrin

I used etyres the mobile firm link http://www.etyres.co.uk/ this last year for two cars. They fitted pilot sport2's and Contisports.

The fitter was ace did them on my driveway, I watched like a hawk, but he was a good lad anyway. That's the point they come to and it's more personal. So tell them your anxious about damage etc and you'll be OK.

Also competitive prices and I haggled a bit too.

Thanks CHB100.
I spoke to my Tyre Fitters today and they have assured me that they have never damaged wheel rims whilst changing tyres. They do many Porkys and Ferrkys. Still scared though.
