My GTI is a very early build, ex VW dealer demo/thrash car and I got it in Sept 2009.
I'm not heavily into mods but alloy wheels are my thing. Here's the wheels I've run on the car so far. I've had a couple of sets that I didn't even get round to fitting which were moved on again.

BBS VZ033 8X18 ET44

OEM Black Detroits 7.5X18 ET51

Scirocco Interlagos 8X18 ET41

And the latest, BBS CK 8X19 ET44 (camera battery died on this shot so it's a funny colour)

My thanks to Jonathan for loaning the Porsche for photographic props and taking the photos with the two cars in.

 happy2 Thank you Belix.
I managed to kerb two of them within 200 miles of fitting them, despite being unfeasably careful not to do such things.
I initially tried touching the paint in but as I have car OCD I decided to book the pair in for a fefurbishment.
Thinking about getting some wider tyres now too but they retail at over £200 each!  scared

Best tyres for your BBS beauties are Michelin Pilot Super Sports.
So here's the damage for the Michelin Pilot Super Sport for 19" wheels:

235/35 ZR19 91Y EL

225/35 ZR19 88Y XL

Either size is suitable and won't affect the gearing. They have different Load Indices (LI) though this should not be an issue either. The narrower tyre will possibly be slightly quieter and is also slightly cheaper.

Lesser tyres are only about £30 less per corner, so not worth it IMO.
I would also have a look at the new Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 tyres. Might be a bit cheaper but probably not as good.

Nice golf, shame about the pumped up beetle evilgrin
Very easy to catch the golf wheels imo as the cars so wide. On my 4 post ramp i had to move it  over 2" wider for the mk6 over a mk4... Even the fiat multipla that was on before the golf was not as wide.

Yep, the Golf has become a fat old thing over the years.

I've never really been into Porkers, apart from lusting after 1980s 911s when I was a teenager, but that little black thing was quite cool. Well, it made a nice noise anyway.

The Interlagos look a lot better in the flesh than they do in photos.
I've seen 19'' replica Interlagos in 45mm offset. With a 225 tyre they would sit flush with the front arches, with a 235 they'd sit very slightly proud of the arch.
The OEM Interlagos I had are 41mm offset with 235 tyres and the front tyres were about 3-5mm proud of the front wheel arches.

Some more Interlagos shots for you:

It's been a bit quiet on the GTI front lately, but I've recently added this improvement to the interior:

And a set of these have just arrived courtesy of SteveP:

Yes, United Grey or Steel Grey as it's marketed in the UK. It looks slightly darker than the United/Steel Grey shade that was on the mk5 to me.
The LED tails are the normal red GTI tails, I think the photo makes them look dark. They contrast okay with the grey so I won't bother re-fitting my R tails I don't think.
The CKs from the silver car are now on the grey one, plus my old nav unit is in. No other mods planned.
